Born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1945, Allan Tannenbaum has been photographing since the 1960s. Gravitating to the nascent art scene in the SoHo district of Manhattan, Tannenbaum worked as a taxi driver and bartender while looking for work as a photographer. When the SoHo Weekly News commenced publication in 1973, Tannenbaum became the Photo Editor and Chief Photographer. Tannenbaum relentlessly covered the art world, music scene, politics, show business, and nightlife.

New York Punk captures an era of burgeoning artists that would forever change the landscape of music as we know it today. His stunning portraits include the likes of Debbie Harry & Blondie, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, David Byrne & The Talking Heads, and many more!

The 21 photographs in the New York Punk portfolio are available as 11x14” prints as part of a portfolio (limited edition of 40 sets). Each portfolio is packaged in an acid free, archival clamshell box and comes with the frontispiece, colophon and Debbie Harry’s signed introduction.
